This two-day event shall serve as a venue for creatives, craftsmen/women, artists, artisans, academics and students, NGOs, and LGUs to 1) understand the state of (both indigenous and introduced and adopted/accommodated) crafts and folk arts in the ASEAN region; 2) appreciate the role of crafts and folk arts in the Creative Economy of the ASEAN region; 3) learn the good/best practices in sustainable innovations in crafts and folk arts in the ASEAN region; and 4) recognize the role of the academe (Higher Educational Institutions) in sustaining creativity and innovation, particularly in crafts and folk arts.
The theme of the conference is “Crafts and Folk Art in a Sustainable and Innovative Southeast Asia”. We invited participants to share their perspective on one of the following, but not limited to, the topics:
-Best Practices in Sustainable Crafts and Folk Art
-Issues in Sustainability in Cultural Production
-Contributions of Crafts and Folk Arts to a Creative Economy
-Social Enterprises on Crafts and Folk Art
-Issues of Authenticity and Cultural Appropriation
-Role/s of the Academe (HEIs) in Sustaining Creativity and Innovation
-Governance and Creative Economy
