The district has strong potential for commercial crop production and has set a target this year to produce more than 50,000 tonnes. In 2018, the district planted rice on 6,025 hectares and had a yield of 22,002 tonnes so that on average each village had 507kg to eat, according to the district Agriculture and Forestry office. Other crops were grown on 4,079 hectares and yielded 33,093 tonnes. This year, the target is to plant rice on 6,035 hectares with an expected yield of 22,041 tonnes, meaning that on average each person will get 516kg to eat over the course of the year. Other crops grown on 6,006 hectares are expected to yield 50,026 tonnes.
