Saravan district officials handed over the rice seed in the presence of the\u00a0Deputy Governor of Saravan province, Mr. Bouathong Khounyordphanya. The Governor of Saravan district, Mr. Theung Chommany, said the seeds\u00a0would be divided among families affected by the recent floods so that they will\u00a0be able to grow rice in the dry season.<\/p>\n<p>Napholern village has about 200 hectares of crops under cultivation. Some\u00a0180 hectares were damaged by the floods, affecting 38 families.\u00a0Land in Napholern village is suitable for dry season rice production and is serviced by the Nongdeng irrigation system, so villagers will be able to grow rice starting from the middle of this month. The villagers recently worked together to restore the irrigation system so they could use it this dry season.\u00a0Napholern village has a population of 847 people in 136 families.
