Farmers have completed 40 per cent sowing of seeds and dry season crop – the target is to grow it over 1,730 hectares. The head of the agriculture and forestry office of Hinboun district, Mr Homma Sibounheuang, said that district officials are going to sowing a variety of crops for consumption and for sale. He said the target is to grow dry season rice over 1,000 hectares this year. For this, it is necessary to improve and repair 25 irrigation systems to ensure a sufficient supply of water. Cassava is the chief crop for villagers in Hinboun district. This year the target is to grow it over 500 hectares as this will help them earn more and upgrade their lifestyles, Mr Homma added.
