Bamboo shoots steamed in banana leaves (Mok Naw Mai)

There are many versions of Haw Mok in Laos such as Mushrroom Mok, Fish Mok or Bamboo shoot stremed in Banana leaves. Mok Naw Mai cooked with fresh herb which is good for healthy.

Ingredients
  • 
 2 cup of bamboo shoot 
  •  Banana leaf
  •  (1/2 cup) pork, chopped finely
  •  (1/2) Mushroom
  •  an egg
  •  (1/2 cup) Basil
  •  1 lemongrass
  •  1-2 Chilies
  •  1/2 teaspoon for salt
  •  1 teaspoon for fish sauce
  •  1-2 teaspoon for stock powder
  •  1 tablespoon for soaked sticky rice

Method
  1.  Cut the banana leaves into rectangles approximately 25 x 30 cm (see assembling banana leaf packets on page 66-67 “The Boat Landing cookbook”
  2.  Boiled bamboo shoot, slice
  3.  Break the eggs and add to the bowl
  4.  Add pork, bamboo shoot, mushroom, basil, lemongrass, chilis, salt, fish sauce, stock powder and soaked sticky rice
  5.  Mix all ingredient in the bowl together. Taste and adjust
  6.  Make assembling banana leaf packets, bring it to the stream pot after heating the water
  7.  Stream for 40-60 minutes
