Lao Sesame Oil

Lao Sesame Oil is produced from locally grown sesame seeds using a cold-pressing method and contains no chemical preservatives or added colors.

Viengsavath Vilaythong, who is passionate about health, has observed a growing trend among Lao consumers toward healthier food choices. However, options for nutritious products, particularly oils, are limited. While olive oil is widely recognized for its health benefits, its high price makes it inaccessible for many households.

Viengsavath noticed that sesame seeds such as Perilla, Nga Khao, and Black Sesame Seeds traditionally grown in our villages, offer similar nutritional and health benefits. In the past, Lao people even used these seeds to strengthen bones. Inspired by this, he dedicated himself to learning the cold-pressing process, producing sesame oil himself without chemical preservatives or added coloring. After approximately five years of experimentation, by 2000 he successfully developed a good quality product, and calls is “ມືລາວ-The Hand” to reflect the meticulous craftsmanship and care that go into every step of production.

Through his work, Viengsavath aims to encourage healthier eating habits, support local farmers, and reduce reliance on imported products, providing a sustainable, locally driven solution for nutritious cooking oils.
