Grilled sticky rice (Khaw ping)

Simple breakfast for everyone in family, that saves time

Ingredients

  • 1 small Ka Tib Khao (cooked sticky rice)
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup of fermented fish (Pa daek)
  • 1 cup of cracker sticky rice (pound)
  • Some Chilies
  • ½ cup of coconut milk
  • ½ tea spoon of sugar
  • 1 tea spoon of salt

Method

  • Mix the cooked sticky rice with ½ tea spoon of salt and all the sugar. Leave it for 10 minutes. 
  • Make circle shaped slices and bake them for a few minutes. 
  • Smash all the eggs into a bowl and add the cracker sticky rice together with ½ tea spoon of salt. Mix the ingredients and add the chilies as well.
  • Put the rice on the grill together with the fermented fish and cover it within the egg mixture. 
  • Bake again for anther 5-10 minutes.
  • Then, the grilled sticky rice is ready to be served. 

Notes

  • There are many different versions of grilled sticky rice, such as spicy and normal. 
  • For a more salted version, add more salt within the egg mixture.
