In 2009, a small rice seed group in Jaeng village was created with the goal to support local farmers with improved seed quality. Over time, it grew into a strong cooperative built on solidarity, and shared ambition. Ban Jaeng Cooperative was officially established in 2018. This legal recognition was an important milestone in opening opportunities beyond what individual farmers could achieve on their own.
The cooperative allows members to benefit from professional quality control and from advice on how to increase their outputs, pool their harvests for sale, and access certification, e.g. organic certification issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
With 15 hectares under cultivation and an annual yield of 45 tons, the cooperative demonstrated both discipline and long-term vision. Through improved rice milling and packaging, along with direct access to health-conscious buyers and urban markets, they began to experience improvements in income and financial stability.
Today, the Ban Jaeng Cooperative stands as a good example of resilience and community strength. It proves that when farmers organize, learn together, and support one another, they can transform challenges into sustainable growth. Ban Jaeng Cooperative is not only about producing rice, but also about strengthening cooperation, enhancing livelihoods, and building a sustainable future for generations to come.
