Keooudone Souvannakhoummane

Author of a top ten outstanding scientific research article in Laos

Keooudone Souvannakhoummane is a PhD student, lecturer, and plant taxonomist at the National University of Laos (NUoL). He is also a member of the advisory board of the PhaKhaoLao platform.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in biology from NUoL and worked at the Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden from 2010 to 2015. Between 2015 and 2018, he completed his master’s degree with support from the Russell E. Train Education for Nature (EFN) program, funded by WWF.

His research specializes in plant families including Zingiberaceae, Begoniaceae, Balsaminaceae, Capparidaceae, and Orchidaceae. His master’s thesis focused on wild terrestrial orchids in Phoukoud District, Xiangkhouang Province.

In 2016, Keooudone joined the Agrobiodiversity Initiative (TABI) and later became Knowledge Base Data Manager and a senior team member of the Pha Khao Lao platform. He has authored over 70 scientific research articles and is officially recognized by Lao’s Ministry of Education and Sports as one of the Top Ten Outstanding scientific research article researchers.

He also contributes to “A Checklist of Plants in Laos”, supporting biodiversity conservation and public awareness.
